There are arguably hundreds of fad diets on the market, but the fact is they don’t work. It’s a sad truth, but they just don’t. In addition, just a signifacant proportion weight loss diets that are “new and improved” are fad diets. These and many other diets currently popular in the press are just fashionable. They only work for a very short period of time, for a very small segment of the population, and are temporary. In short, you usually gain your weight back, sometimes more, and very quickly.
Only a few diets work for a lot of people, and these diets are really lifestyle changes rather than diets. They don’t impose overly restrictive and impossible restrictions on you that simply can’t work over the long term. They work because they respect and appreciate your body and how it was meant to work. They teach you how to succeed over the long haul, not just in the short term.
It’s common knowledge that people love to eat. Food tastes and smells good, so why shouldn’t you love to eat, too? This is simply part of a total, enjoyable experience called eating. Unfortunately, it’s also true that people sometimes really love food that’s “bad” for them. Many of these foods taste and smell irresistible, true, but they’re unhealthy in many respects.
It can be very difficult to maintain your distance from these foods so that you can stay away from them. This, in turn, means that a lot of diets simply don’t work. If you include the fact that many people have established bad eating habits and have therefore become overweight, this eventually results in failure.
In addition, people are individuals, so that the way we metabolize and digest food can change the way we handle it in terms of weight gain or loss. Different people eat for different reasons, and stress can make some people turn to rich and fattening foods.
Some people struggle to stay thin, while others struggle to gain weight. Some people should avoid simple carbohydrates while others don’t have to as much. Those who must avoid simple carbohydrates (and often struggle to) may not be able to cope with the excess sugar simple carbohydrates stress the body with. Still other people have trouble metabolizing cholesterol or fat. This means that a single weight loss program isn’t going to work for everyone, because it simply can’t. We’re simply not the same.
However, one new weight loss method is not a fad. It doesn’t make empty promises and in fact is not a diet at all. Instead, it relies on a holistic method that has been put to the test and proven to work. It respects how your body really works, and involves the taste and scent inherent in appetite and in eating. In other words, “The nose knows.”
Dr. Leon Massage of the Body Metabolism Institute is the Medical Director and founder of a respected and highly successful weight loss program in Melbourne, Australia. He was searching for a natural and non-drug way of helping his patients control their appetite and avoid the binges. During his investigations he came across some research that was done by the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago. This research was performed on a group of 108 overweight volunteers with an average age of 48, average weight of 197 pounds (89.5 Kg.), and average Body Mass Index (BMI) of 31 (any BMI over 30 is considered “obese”).
Over the course of six months, the group was given two different types of different flavored crystals every month, and they were asked to sprinkle these crystals on their food at every meal. Otherwise, they were asked to continue their normal eating and exercise patterns, if applicable. At the end of six months, 92 of the volunteers had finished the study, or 85.1%. The group lost an average of 33.6 pounds, or 5.6 pounds per month.
The conclusion reached from the trial is that certain smells and tastes can induce a very real sense of being satiated, that is, a feeling of being full. This occurs even if the same foods as always are eaten and no additional exercise is undertaken. By naturally feeling no more desire to overeat or eat in a way that is out of balance with their own personal body chemistry, people naturally begin to lose weight until they get to their personal ideal range of weight or BMI There was no need to force unnatural, often painful behaviour patterns on the people who lost weight.
As a result and based on this, and similar, research, Dr. Leon Massage of the Body Metabolism Institute has created the BMI Weight Loss Wristband. He infused the special scents that suppress hunger into a wristband that could be worn during the day and the BMI Weight Loss Wristband is simply sniffed by the wearer whenever she feels tempted to eat more than she knows she should or really wants to. The BMI Wristband goes a step further by using the concept of neuro-associations it has added a motivational message to the wristband. Now wearing the wristband as a reminder and smelling the infused scents creates a positive neuro-association with the smells and tastes that curb hunger.
This means that losing weight doesn’t have to be a painful process. With Dr. Massage’s wristband, weight loss can be painless, natural, effortless and permanent. The results denote visible success.
