Man boobs are quite a common phenomenon although there are millions around the world who are completely ignorant about it. If you also have them then you do not need to feel embarrassed or abnormal. In fact, research statistics have revealed that almost 60% of men possess them. There are some very famous people who have had them. These include Gautama Buddha, King Tut of Egypt and many Sumo wrestlers. Medically, man boobs is termed as Gynecomastia.
The common symptoms of man boobs are visible in the form of glandular and fatty tissue around the breast region. In some cases, this area becomes tender and sore. If it occurs during the phase of puberty of a boy, chances are that it will subside in the normal course of growth by the time he reaches manhood.
Specifically speaking, Gynecomastia denotes the development of large breasts or mammary glands in men or young boys. It is an abnormal condition whereby the affected individual can sometimes experience secretion of milk as well. The reasons for such a condition in males can be several. Most causes are idiopathic or unknown.
To put it simply, there is no clear or defined cause for this condition. This abnormal condition can be caused by pathologic causes such as androgen receptor defects, HIV treatment, decreased testosterone production, chronic kidney disease, increased serum estrogen, and other chronic illnesses.
An injury in the spinal cord is also considered to be the responsible for this condition. Sometimes, when a person consumes food in large quantities after a period of prolonged starvation, it leads to accumulation of fat around the chest area, which triggers off the disease gynecomastia. Despite the research work, the cause behind nearly one-fourth of the total number of gynacomastia cases cannot be traced.
In case of adults, approximately 10-20% cases of this condition are the result of medications which may directly work on the tissues of the breast or indirectly enlarge the breasts by an excessive secretion of prolactin. Generally, these include certain antipsychotics, spironolactone, finasteride, cimetidine, imatinib mesylate, and omeprazole.
The hormonal imbalance is caused by a lot of estrogen activity in the man?s body. Medications to treat prostate cancer might also lead to male boobs. Some experts believe that the use of marijuana is another cause of gynecomastia though others do not support this view. Continued use of topical products that contain tea tree oils and lavender is another possible reason behind male boobs. They are harmful due to their anti-androgenic and estrogenic activity.
In order to get rid of your man boobs you may consider adopting any one of the following solutions. For instance you may opt for a very safe method known as chest fat burner. Here you will simply require undertaking certain fitness regimens such as following diet programs, doing cardio exercises, weight training, healthy sleeping habits and so on.
Gynecomastia supplements are also a very useful way of reducing breasts in men. These help enlarged breasts disappear eventually and without any pain. Since these are herbal, they have no recorded proof of side effects. However, before taking any of these supplements you should consult a specialized doctor.
