Diets Online

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
There are numerous free online diets available on the web. However, you need to be careful when selecting one as their quailty varies enormously.
A Google search will bring up quite a number of online diets which you can research. Don’t necessarily believe all the claims these diets have without looking at some independent evidence.
This might be in a form of a review of the program. However, many web reviews today are written by affiliates hoping to make money from the program and are often quite biased. They will sing the praises of the program and make note of a few insignificant flaws in order to try and win your trust.
You may be wondering how affiliates can make money from a free online diet. This is because many that you find will actually be paid programs masquerading as a free diet. For example, you may be able to join for free, but find that access to all of the benefits requires being a paid member.
When you do find a free diet that you like it is good to get advice from those who have actually been on the diet. This may be from testimonials, although these can be faked. Nevertheless, if they leave contact details you might be able to contact the person writing the testimonial to check it out.
Perhaps the best place to find genuine advice is by looking at forums, particularly those not associated with the program. Another good method is to sign up for related newsletters.
It is taking somewhat of a risk to trust a free online diet. You shouldn’t rule out paid programs because sometimes the fees are very small and represent incredible value for money.
If you choose the right diet you will be rewarded with better health and higher self-esteem because of your great looking new body.

Weight Loss Dietary Supplements
By Mr S Green | July 29, 2008
What do you think of when you consider weight loss dietary supplements? Do you consider whether they are good for you? Will they affect your weight loss quest positively, negatively, or have no affect at all? People who are looking for a quick and easy to solution to weight loss often consider over the counter supplements.
Some people use weight loss dietary supplements to enhance their exercise and diet regimens. These supplements are a blend of various vitamins, amino acids and minerals. Some supplements also contain herbs. Remember to seek your doctor’s advice before using any supplements.
Weight loss dietary supplements are typically not approved by the FDA, so use them with caution. They don’t have to meet the guidelines that most other medications have to conform to. They can be prohibited for sale if the FDA finds that they do not meet the standards of being fit for human consumption.
Because there is no government regulation as to what goes into these weight loss dietary supplements, sometimes the ingredients listed on the labels do not match the actual ingredients used in the product. Ephedra, touted as a weight loss dietary supplement, was taken off the market after it was shown to cause seizures, raise blood pressure, and exacerbate depression, chronic headaches and even cause death.
Since ephedra is no longer available on the market, bitter orange is being promoted, even though it hasn’t shown any effect with weight loss. New research suggests that it has the same effects as ephedra did on the body. An unhealthy and unsafe weight loss dietary supplement, bitter orange has yet to be pulled from store shelves.
Guar gum and chitosan have been shown to be two very common but ineffective weight loss dietary supplements. Ingestion of these two dietary supplements for weight loss is not encouraged anymore. Their long term effects on the body are not known since neither of them has been studied or tested for that in particular. However, it has been shown that they do not contribute or help dieters to reduce appetite or lose weight.
St. John’s Wart and green tea are reportedly helpful in weight loss. When used together with diet and exercise both of these have proven to be effective weight loss dietary supplements. Green Tea can come as pills and patches if you would like a change from the traditional tea form.

Powerful Fat Burning Tips
By Wendy D Hearn | July 29, 2008
Burning fat is the most effective way to lose weight. Most other methods available only work for the short term and before you know it the weight has gone back on. This is because most fad diets cause you to lose water weight which doesn’t stay off. Also by following these types of diets you often lose muscle mass which decreases the amount of fat your body burns during a normal day.
I’m sure you want weight loss that stays off and with these fat burning tips your body will also look good and well toned.
Firstly you need to be aware of what you eat and one type of food to be really wary of is saturated fats. You probably know that to lose fat you need to reduce your fat intake, but actually its specific fats that you need to eat less of. Fatty foods and deep fried foods that contain saturated fat are the ones you most want to avoid. If these are foods you regularly choose then you’ll need to make some other healthier choices. Instead of fried foods, choose to grill or bake them to reduce the fat content. Also allow the fat to be drained away from high fat meats so that you reduce the amount you eat.
Of course we all know that exercise is necessary and some forms of exercise burn more fat than others. For instance adding strength training to your exercise routine can help you ti burn more fat. This type of training adds more muscle mass to your body and helps you to look good. The more muscle mass you have the more fat you burn up even when you’ve finished exercising. You need a routine that includes strength training and uses muscles from the whole of your body. Begin with some strength training that suits your current fitness level and increase it as you feel ready.
Now that you have these two powerful ways of burning fat from your body, I encourage you to incorporate them into your daily life. And keep your eye out for ways to burn even more fat.

Different Ways to Cook Mexican Food
By KC Kudra | July 29, 2008
Mexican foods are cooked similar to how you cook your everyday meals. They can be fried, boiled, and grilled. Mexico has cooked their foods differently in the past.
Mexican natives did not have ovens long ago and would cook their meals over an open fire pit.
The food would be placed in pots and pans and cooked in a similar way to how we grill foods today. The Aztecs would steam and boil their food in two handled cooking pots called xoctli before the Spaniards introduced iron pots. They would fill the xoctli with food and heat it over an open fire. Frying was popular in ancient Mexican times and still is today.
Mexican cooking is much easier these days thanks to the variety of utensils, pots, pans, and ovens available. If you want to make flan, for example, any good Mexican cooking class will recommend that you use a spring form pan, although ancient Mexicans did not have such things. If you want to make homemade Mexican tortillas, you can use a flat-bottomed iron pan. These modern items make what was once time consuming Mexican cooking into easy Mexican cooking. The Mexicans used to have to grind corn by hand to make masa. Now you can get metal grinders to make the task quick and easy.
The oven is perfect for making many Mexican foods. It makes cooking vegetables and meats a snap. They can be placed in a pot of water with added spices and simmered for hours. Bigger steaming pots make tamales easier to cook. You can make many tamales and steam them all at once, making it very convenient. Tamales take a long time to make, so big pots are perfect.
Grilling on the barbeque is also a great way to taste authentic Mexican foods. Long ago foods were made this way and called Barbacoa. It consisted of steaming meat that was suspended over boiling water in a deep pit. Before steaming the meat, cactus and banana leaves were wrapped around it. These days, barbequing allows the spices and sauces to burst with flavor. It tastes similar to how the food once was cooked over open flames. Fajitas are great on the grill!
Hundreds of years ago, Mexicans used a “metate y mano,” which was a large tool made from stone or lava rock. These tools had a slightly concave surface and were used to mash ingredients together. A “molcajete” was a similar tool and is a type of mortar and pestle.
Cooking almost always requires stirring somewhere in the preparation. Wooden spoons have been around for many hundreds of years and are still widely used. There are different types of spoons today, depending on whether you are moving meat around in hot oil or stirring a thick sauce.
There is a rich history behind Mexican food and Mexican traditional cooking techniques. The methods might have changed through the ages but the food is still traditional. Food tastes different when cooked in different ways and there are plenty of Mexican recipes to try out and enjoy.

What You Can Do About Your Stretch Marks
By Maia Pells | July 29, 2008
Stretch marks are usually blamed on the rapid expansion of the skin. Although this is true, the real culprit for causing stretch marks is the hormones called glucocorticoids. These are secreted by the adrenal glands, which lies on top of the kidneys and the production of this hormone is increased during pregnancy, adolescence, with obesity, weight lifting and Cushing’s disease.
The Root Cause - Cushing’s disease is said to be a result of a tumor in the adrenal gland which causes the gland to excessively produce cortisol, which will cause the person to gain weight and another symptom of this disease is the thinning of the skin. When you look at stretch marks under the microscope, you will see that the layer of the skin called the dermis is thinner than normal. That is why if someone is suffering from Cushing’s disease, the person will also develop stretch marks on the skin. There are actually two types of scars. The newer formed marks are red or purplish in color, while the more matured ones are commonly silver or white stretch marks.
Signs of Stretch Marks - In the early life of a stretch mark, it is often protruding and still reddish. If you have dark skin, you will not clearly see these marks but they are there. Then they turn purplish or bluish after a while and overtime they become flattened white stretch marks streaks because they already have aged. These unsightly marks will not occur if the dermis is strong.
Torn Tissues - The skin tissues will start to break only if collagen and elastin fibers are prevented from forming. If this happens, the dermis no longer has support and will consequently tear once it reaches its breaking limit. Stretch marks are usually seen on the different areas of the body like the buttocks, hips, breasts, abdomen, and thighs. In addition to tearing, the thinning and flattening of the dermis will also make these marks more visible on the skin.
Stretch Mark Treatment - Most people know what stretch marks look like but many are not familiar with the variety of treatments that can cure them. There are actually different methods to cure each specific phase of the scar. Laser light treatments are effective in removing newly formed scars. This method works by applying a controlled amount of laser beam on the affected are. This beam will break down scar tissues and once these tissues are gone, healthier skin cells and collagen start to develop in the vacated area.
Topical Cream - Some topical creams can also remove stretch marks but if it is stubborn and aged marks that you want to get rid of, you will need a more potent solution for this. There is one cream available in the market that works and penetrates into the middle layer of the skin and its natural ingredients work together to heal the torn tissues and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.
Surgical Options - Microdermabrasion can also help remove stubborn and white stretch marks. This procedure uses tiny particles to sand the skin and slowly remove the scarred or discolored tissue. But the stretch marks will not be removed in just one sitting. You will need to go back for more sessions and the number of times will depend on the severity of your scars. However, the best cure for stretch marks is still prevention.
