Eat breakfast The first thing you need to make sure you’re doing is to eat breakfast every day. This starts your metabolism again in the morning after a night of fasting. A well balanced and healthy breakfast gets your metabolism going early in the day and this helps your body to burn fat.

Use interval training Adding interval training to your exercise routine helps your body to burn fat. This type of training is based on a slow - quick method of changing your heart rate. Your Can Have Your Own Gym, In Your Own Place

By Ricardo Daryans | July 29, 2008

by Ricardo Daryans

I receive emails everyday from aspiring lifters all over the world, and one of the most common questions I’m asked is “Do I have to join a gym in order to build a strong, muscular body?” The answer, my friend, is no. With the right equipment and planning you can follow an equally effective bodybuilding program from the comfort of your home without ever having to set foot in a gym.

There may be a lot of factors that make you decide not to go to a gym. Maybe you can’t afford the membership, or you don’t like the ones close to your home. Or you don’t like the guys in that gym. Whatever your reason, it’s ok, there’s still chances for you.

There are guys who like a lot doing the workout in their own house. They have their gym just down (or up) the stairs waiting for them. And they don’t spend their time trying to go there and back.

I could listen to whatever music I wanted to, as loud as I wanted to without having to worry about those around me. I could grunt, yelp and scream through my sets if I was in the mood without disturbing anyone (hey, squatting to failure isn’t easy okay?) or train shirtless if I felt like it.

When the workout was over, I could sprawl out on the floor in exhaustion and know that my post workout shakes were just a few steps away, and that I wouldn’t have to hobble to my car and spend anymore time driving home. It was great.

Ok, there’s not only good news. It’s almost impossible to have in your home to have certain pieces of machinery such as a leg press or calf machine. And because of that, there’ll be some exercises you could not do there.

Even so, that’s no bad at all. Ok, that machinery makes your workout easier, but if you don’t have that equipment there are still forms to perform similar routines (freeweight substitutions). A proper bodybuilding routine does not require the use of any fancy equipment.

Here is the basic equipment that your home gym should contain: 1) An adjustable barbell with freeweight plates. 2) Adjustable dumbbells. 3) A bench with incline adjustments. 4) A chin-up bar. 5) A squat rack.

So there you have it; the 5 pieces of basic equipment that are needed to set up a home gym. As long as you have these basic tools in your arsenal you can perform an equally effective workout without ever having to join a traditional gym.

The Sad Truth About Fad Diets

By Joel Riley | July 29, 2008

by Joel Riley

I have a friend who is overweight and she has tried every diet plan there is; most of those being fad diets. The fact is, the people who create these so called miracle diets don’t really care if you lose weight or not or if the diet plan destroys your health; all they care about is getting your money. Individuals need to research and check with their doctors if the diet plan they have chosen is right for them.

There are many physicians who are quite skeptical about fad diets and have strong opinions concerning the well being of the person who decides to use this type of plan to lose weight. Diets such as The Atkins or cabbage soup diets will give you fast weight loss results, but they are also quite unhealthy and can and have caused people to have real physical illnesses. Also, the problem with these types of fad diets is that once you get off the plan, you gain all that weight back again. Fad diets are designed for you to eat a great deal of food in one meal and then skip the rest of the meals. This is by far the least healthy way to try to lose weight. It is much better for you to drop the weight slowly, eating three balanced meals a day consisting of the right types of food that work with your body. Including a regular exercise routine combined with a healthy diet is the safest way to lose weight. In fact, an overweight person who is physically active can be much healthier than a person who is thin but does not exercise.

Carbohydrates do not lead to the increase of weight; in fact, they are generating oil of your body. Fad diets suggest you to stop taking carbohydrates in your meals but that is a myth as they need to promote their high protein diets. Measure your BMI to know if you are actually overweight or just feeling so. Being obese increases the risk of cardiac arrest, high BP, diabetes and heart diseases. This is surely not age-restricted. Losing some kilograms will help reducing the risk.

Any food can be eaten even if you are on a diet. Reducing weight is all about having balanced food and calculating your calories intake properly. A human body is not designed to be on a fat-free schedule for days. All you need to be aware of is the amount of calorie intake in a meal. The fad diets encourage restriction on certain food items which is not wise to do. Eat a balanced meal and break a meal into three or four parts to increase the number of meals.

A little change in the lifestyle can add to big results. Exercise should be mandatory when you are planning to lose some weight. It should be included in your daily routine even otherwise which will ensure that the weight is not regained. Instead of choosing a fad diet which chooses food for you, you choose your food yourself and be more aware of your system and calorie intake. A calorie is a calorie taken in any form at any time; you need to just plan it in a way that it falls to your benefit. Take more healthy food than a spicy acidic meal which will take more time to digest.

You Can Be Removing Stretch Marks Without The Hassle

By Maia Pells | July 28, 2008

by Maia Pells

Stretch marks have troubled people for a long time now. This dilemma never seems to go away because it occurs as our body changes naturally. But contrary to popular belief, there are ways to prevent stretch marks from developing. You can also find methods for removing stretch marks that have already aged.

It can take time to remove the lines. It’s hard to remove stretch marks that have already formed because these are actually scars. And unlike the scars on the surface of our skin, stretch marks are even harder to get rid of because they are formed in the middle layers of the skin. This layer is called the dermis and these scars only develop when there is a rapid growth in the body. For example during your teen years, your body starts to expand so stretch marks will definitely start to form.

Pregnant Women - Likewise for pregnant women, the body parts that begin to expand are the breasts, thighs, and abdomen. Hormones also contribute to these bodily changes. Stretch marks develop because when the body expands, the underlying tissues get stretched. And once they have reached their limits, they begin to tear. The collagen production is also interrupted that is why it cannot heal these torn tissues which results to the formation of these unsightly marks.

Surgery as an Option - Some people find it very hard to live with their stretch marks and want it removed as soon as possible. So they start considering the different surgical procedures for removing stretch marks. The more famous methods are laser surgery, tummy tuck, and dermabrasion.

Tummy Tuck Procedure - Although a tummy tuck will help you get rid of stretch marks, this procedure will leave you with a visible scar because this operation was in the first place actually meant for removing stubborn fats. There are major risks involved in undergoing this major operation and it will leave you in pain for several weeks because you will need time to heal.

Dermabrasion Procedure - A less risky method is laser surgery but it will not be an effective treatment for scars that have already aged. Dermabrasion is a simple procedure of stripping away the dead skin cells. Even if this is not a serious procedure, the results will not leave you satisfied because there is no guarantee that all of your stretch marks will be removed.

Going Natural - If you do not have the desire to risk your life or pay too much just to get rid of your marks then maybe you should opt for the natural way. There is a stretch mark prevention product in the market that is made up of all natural substances. The components of this formula are aloe vera, grapefruit seed extract, squalene oil, DL-penthenol, and vitamins A, D, and E. These ingredients work together to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin to make the skin more elastic and strong, thus keeping the tissues from breaking. Furthermore, some of the ingredients work as antioxidants and they help heal the skin.

Penetrating the Roots - This product prevention product works more effectively than other treatments because it penetrates the skin and reaches the root of the problem. It also doesn’t employ synthetic chemicals like other removing stretch marks products. And with continued use of the cream, you will no longer worry about getting stretch marks ever again because the formula will prevent this from happening.

Improved Immunity and Other Benefits of Kelp

By Susannah Singer | July 28, 2008

by Susannah Singer

Though it is commonly called seaweed, the official name for this algae is kelp. Kelp may be found in kelp forests, in shallow, clear parts of the ocean. The water needs to be below 68 degrees F. Kelp multiples and spreads easily, growing 20 inches or more in a single day, and at times reaching over 200 feet long!

Kelp consists of a body or thallus which is a flat or leaf-like structure called the blade. Blades in turn come from stipes, long stem-like structures. The holdfast, a root structure, keeps the kelp fastened to the floor of the ocean. American kelp has gas-filled bladders that form on the blades and float the blades close to the surface of the water.

Normally kelp is acquired as a dried plant, as a powder, or in a capsule. Some use it as a substitute for salt, or as a flavoring for their drink. Others add kelp to their beans, stir fries, stews, soups, or other types of grains.

Kelp contains over 70 enzymes, proteins, vitamins, minerals, growth hormones, and trace elements. These include calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and especially iodine. Wikipedia reports that 100 grams of kelp contains .6 grams of sugars, .6 grams of fat, 1.3 grams of fiber, 1.7 grams off protein, 9.6 grams of carbohydrates, and anywhere from 3% to 45% of the daily minimum requirements for 13 other minerals and vitamins.

Kelp is not only plentiful but it is also healthy. Kelp suppresses AIDS, helps to fight heart disease, and boosts the immune system. It increases body energy, helps to fight cancer, improves the function of the liver, and reduces arthritic pain.

Because kelp stimulates metabolism, it is used to control appetite and can help keep weight normal. The iodine in kelp helps treat hypothyroid problems. It also is used to alleviate problems of poor digestion, bowel gas, and constipation.

Kelp helps to lower cholesterol levels and to maintain mucous membranes. It kills the herpes virus and is even used to reduce hair loss. Kelp ash can be used in soap and glass production. Alginate, a carbohydrate coming from kelp, is used as a thickener for such things as ice cream, jelly, salad dressing, and toothpaste, and is used as an ingredient in exotic dog food.

Kelp is also used frequently in fertilizer and as such is known as vraic. Some types of kelp are also considered a delicacy in the far east.

Consider taking kelp daily either as a powder in foods or as a capsule to help you keep your body systems regulated, and to provide you with needed vitamins and minerals. You can’t go wrong partaking of this herb daily.
