There comes a moment in a lot of people’s lives when they want to lose some weight. There is never a bad time to begin a diet plan and there are several practical things you can keep up with to make your journey less stressful .
1. Clear out all the fattening food from your house. If you are going to be on a diet, you should not keep temptations around you. If there are children or other people in your house that might want to keep the goodies around, explain to them that you need to keep the temptations to a minimum. They can have all the treats they want, just not in the house.
2. Fill your fridge with healthy snacks. If you get rid of all the goodies then you must replace them with something else. Try getting some of the fruits and veggies that you like. Everyone always says to just eat more fruits and veggies, but make sure that they are the ones you like or you will end up creating some crazy science projects in your refrigerator.
3. Get yourself in the routine of jotting down everything that you eat in the day in a food diary. This will help you keep your eye on the ball and maintain your interest. It is also difficult to to deny if it’s right there for you and the rest of the world to see.
4. One of the best things you can do to make you feel healthy is to drink plenty of water. This advice is given a lot and is sound advice. Even if you are not on a diet regime you should have a good intake of water daily to keep yourself hydated and balanced.
5. Start up an exercise plan to aid your weight loss. If necessary get advice from a health professional beforehand. Exercise does not have to be strenuous and there are some basic and taken for granted exercises that can help you burn off some weight and assist with muscle toning.
Losing weight is a challenging and life changing journey and hopefully the above information will benefit you with this. There is a wealth of information available on the world wide web concerning weight loss approaches and nutrition and a lot of information concerning dieting methods.
Whichever diet plan you attempt to lose weight with, remember to ensure that you stay focused and do not put your own personal health at risk. If felt necessary please discuss any concerns about dieting with your doctor beforehand.

Are Low Income and Obesity Related?
By Sara Mendez | July 28, 2008
Obesity rates among the poor reached a 147% increase in 2002 obesity according to medicinenet.com. This made those at the poverty level one of the fastest growing obesity group in the country. Being obese for those at the poverty line is due to make circumstances which are out of their control. Many poor families report some of the reasons they let their weight fluctuate is because of lack of exercise, food choices and no access to health food stores or supermarkets.
Living in government assisted housing, commonly known as “projects” is something many of the impoverished live in everyday. The projects are home to gangs, shootings, and other more serious crimes. Many children and families report this as the number one reason they do not get out an exercise. Projects often do not have playgrounds, sidewalks or lawns where families or children can play. If there is a playground near by often it is a central meeting place for gangs and gang activity, again making it a less than ideal hang out for children or individuals looking for a place to exercise.
Food stamps and other food assistance programs are available to those who need financial help. However, trying to eat healthy on food stamps is near impossible. Often those who use foods stamps have many mouths to feed and they need to stretch the money as far as it will go. The Department of Human Services suggests buy cheep staple foods. Some of which are macaroni and cheese, Cup O’Noodle and other starches such as pasta. A cheep and easy dinner might be Hamburger Helper which is extremely unhealthy but food stamp shoppers don’t care, as long as it is food in the table to feed their families.
Eating healthy is not cheap, organic foods and other food substitutes such as Egg Beaters or tofu are not items on low income families grocery lists. Often they do not have grocery lists at all because there are no grocery stores anywhere near their homes and lugging $400.00 worth of groceries on a bus alone is not easy. Many do not buy fresh fruits or vegetables since one they can not afford to buy fresh produce every week and two there is no where in the inner city to buy these items.
Large cities such as New York, Chicago or Atlanta often lack a supermarket or health food store in close proximity to inner city living. Many project tenets find groceries at Circle K’s or Quickie Marts which generally stock cheep foods but they are not always healthy foods. Sciencedaily.com reports that one of the leading reasons of obesity among the poor is lack of grocery stores in their neighborhoods. There are no farmers markets offering organic produce or health food stores with tofu, these people get what they can at corner markets.
Being poor is no reason to let your health suffer. However when it comes to trying to better yourself or become more healthy, the odds are defiantly against you if you are in the low income bracket. It has become more important then ever to take care of yourself regardless of your income level. The rising costs of health care are not going down, and by being obese you are not part of the solution.

The Top Treatment For Stretch Marks
By Maia Pells | July 28, 2008
It may take some time to look for the right stretch mark removal treatment. There are so many methods of treatment in the market that one can easily get lost in the choices. They are even more available to the public now more than ever before. What one really has to do is study what the different procedures are to get rid of stretch marks. Then a person can discern what the best procedure to take is.
The Natural Way
Early Detection Means Early Treatment - Early detection and prevention is the key to getting rid of stretch marks. Of course, preventing them from occurring in the first place is ideal. But there are times in life when one does not realize he or she is gaining weight at a quick pace and it is at these times that stretch marks can start to form.
How do stretch marks occur? Stretch marks are scars and these scars are the result from the dermis tearing because of the quick growth and stretching of skin. To be extra sure that you treat stretch marks correctly, you must first inspect if you have any. They will usually look like reddened or purplish lines and the skin around them is more sensitive or softer than the rest of the surrounding skin. If you do detect this, then it is still early and you can still treat the stretch marks by exercising and also by hydrating your body. 8 to 10 glasses of water a day and a healthy diet will help the skin repair itself and thus stop stretch marks forming into something that is more permanent.
Medications & Creams
Of course, there are other options for treatment. For people who already have stretch marks that are in a phase beyond prevention there is another way. Some dermatologists will prescribe specially medicated creams as a treatment for stretch marks. These creams can be used by simply massaging them into the affected area. Regular use of these creams will ultimately result in better skin conditions and less scarring caused by stretch marks.
Plastic Surgery & Laser Treatment
Laser Treatment and Tummy Tuck - For more serious cases of stretch marks, there are the choices of a tummy tuck or laser treatment. Since most people get stretch marks below the belly button or around the abdominal area, they can opt for a tummy tuck. Of course, this is probably only best for people who actually need a tummy tuck because the procedure is intended to get rid of excess loose skin that has come about after losing a significant amount of weight.
More Laser Options - For other areas of the body, there is also laser treatment that involves the stripping away of layers of the dead skin cells left behind by stretch marks. By burning these layers away with a laser, the skin can then be left to heal properly and then normalize so that it can take on the tone and color of the surrounding skin.

Ways to Boost Metabolism, Fast
By Alexa Bjorkin | July 28, 2008
If you think you’ve lost all hope in your weight-loss plan, don’t give up just yet. What I have is the knowledge of many powerfully effective ways to boost metabolism fast and I have compiled a “Quick-Pick” list just for you to take maximum advantage of. You have nothing to lose but fat so let’s go!
Let’s take a look at my List of the BEST Ways to boost your Metabolism quickly!
1. Consume lots of water.
I’m not saying it is required to drink a certain amount of water everyday, like the typical 8 glasses you hear about. However you must drink water whenever you are thirsty (and don’t wait until you’re mouth is dry). Just drink until you’re not thirsty anymore. Everyone is different so just adjust your intake accordingly.
Here is the benefit. The water not only helps to cleanse your system and regenerate your cells but can also help you to retain less water. Sounds ironic, huh? This is because when your body isn’t receiving enough water, it holds onto what it does have for survival. However when it’s getting a good amount of water, it releases the retained water because it no longer has a need for it. Strange how that works, isn’t it?
2. DO NOT skip breakfast! I repeat DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAST!!
When you sit down and enjoy a healthy breakfast, you are actually giving your metabolism a booster jump and helps it to wake it up from “starvation mode”. When you are sleeping at night, your body’s metabolic rate slows down significantly because you don’t use that much energy while you are resting. (Now it makes sense when you hear don’t eat big meals right before bedtime?) Your body spends the whole night focusing on everything else except digestion. Therefore it’s your job to recharge your rested body whenever you wake up. Try this method and you should start seeing improvements quickly!
Despite what some nutritionists say, eggs are actually a very good breakfast item. You can create an omelet with your favorite vegetables, a small amount of cheese or possibly some ham or sausage. The protein from the eggs will keep you satiated and energized throughout the morning. Accompany that with some freshly squeezed orange juice and you’ll be ready to take on anything that comes your way! If you loaded up on sugary cereals or processed breakfast foods, you are likely to feel sluggish and hungry all morning.
3. Five to Six Smaller Meals Per Day is Best.
Your stomach takes roughly 3 hours to completely digest the meal you just consumed so your goal should be to eat a small healthy meal (or snack) every 3 hours or so. Ideally this should be done BEFORE you get start to get hungry again. This way, your body stay be more nourished and you will not experience those strong hunger urges.
The same idea can be applied to drinking water. If you are depriving yourself of food and water, your body will naturally retain what it has in order to survive. If you give it the necessary vitamins and minerals contained in healthy foods, you can turn your body into a fat burning furnace and quickly boost your metabolic rate!
These “right” foods consist of “negative calorie foods” like fruits and vegetables. A great snack that would satisfy a sweet and salty craving would be celery sticks topped with chunky peanut butter and dried cranberries. Even a fruit smoothie would quench your thirst on a hot day, give you fuel, AND boost your metabolism fast!

What Is A Juicer?
By Rick Dupont | July 19, 2008
Today, more people are conscious of their health. This is can be seen by the fact that more people are exercising more, watching their weight and especially watching what foods they eat.
Some of these dietary changes include individuals eating more fiber, less red meat, limiting foods that cause high cholesterol, etc.
In addition, people are eating more naturally. One of those natural food groups is fruit and people have found the juicer a popular way of preparing this food for ingestion.
So it is important to understand what this product is and how to obtain the benefits
What Is A Juicer?
A juicer is a kitchen appliance designed to extract the liquid from fruits and vegetables.
This product is similar in appearance to a blender. However, unlike the blender, which blends ingredients together, a juicer operates differently
In addition, there are basically two types of juicers. One type of juicer is called a masticating juicer. Masticating simply means to chew. This appliance chews up the fruit. The end product of this process is a type of pureed product such as butter or a spread type product.
The other type is called a centrifugal juicer it operates in a manner similar that of a laboratory centrifuge. The blades within the juicer operate at a high-speed and extract the pulp. The pulp is captured and collected in a waste container attached to the appliance.
The Benefits of Juicers
The benefits of juicers are that they allow the individual to receive their recommended daily intake of fruit. The benefit of this process is by in removing the fibre from the fruit, allows for the ingestion of the beneficial substances found in fruit without feeling full because of the fibre.
Specifically, however, the benefits derived from eating the recommended daily dosage of fruit is the natural chemicals found in the use of these items. These natural chemicals, found in these natural products, have been scientifically proven to provide antioxidants and chemicals which have been shown to be effective in combating cancer within the body. Those parts of the body that have benefited from cancer prevention through the use of the juice include the lungs, stomach, ovaries, etc.
Another primary benefit of using a juicer can be attributed to the loss or sustaining of an individual’s weight. This is to due to the fact that when a juicer is used to process fruit a significant amount of calories found in this products is removed through the loss of fiber. This obvious reduction in calories will help an individual to either lose weight or sustain their weight at their current level.
