Your Guide to Low-Carb Cooking

By Joel Riley | August 15, 2008

by Joel Riley

Have you ever thought about trying a low-carb diet? You want to get going but you don’t know where to start? You can always try low-carb recipes for a few weeks to see if the diet program will work for you.

On a low-carb diet, you eat fewer carbohydrates in your diet. If you’re borderline diabetic (or full-fledged diabetic), then a low-carb diet can help you keep your blood sugar levels stabilized, and it also helps you lose weight in the process.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. People love to eat sugary breakfast treats, but when eating fewer carbs, other alternatives must be explored. Carbs turn into sugar, sugar burns quickly and then we are hungry again and have to eat more food

Try eating oatmeal, low carb bagels, fat free cream cheese, eggs and anything else that is high in protein. These foods will stave off a sugar crash and there are even low carb cereals that can be an option if you like.

Potatoes are not a good choice for those on low carb diets. You may think it’s an odd choice but trying mashed cauliflower has been a hit for many people on this diet. You can prepare the cauliflower much in the same way you would traditional mashed potatoes. So you don’t have to give up those comfort foods entirely

Dessert lovers don’t go away feeling deprived either. There are vast amounts of recipes for low carb desserts. You can make almost anything you desire, the sky is the limit, you can even have cheesecake!

Rice is a great food for someone on a low carb diet. By switching from white to brown, you will be getting fewer carbs and eating healthier as well.

Going out to eat can be a daunting situation to those who are on low carb diets. If the menu doesn’t offer any low carb options, simply stick with foods high in protein and load up on those. It is important for you to know the difference between good carbs and bad carbs

It is important while on a low carb diet that you make sure not to over do it. You still have to have certain levels of carbs in your daily diet. You can’t stop all carbs because it’s not healthy, use good sense when dieting so you don’t become unhealthy.

Different Kinds of Children’s Vitamins

By Alison Addy | August 14, 2008

Children’s Vitamins Help Mothers Relax

Mothers are always worried about their children getting the proper nutrition whether the children are sick or healthy. Although children’s vitamins can’t take the place of a well-balanced diet, they provide some sort of a safety diet assuring mothers that children are getting the proper vitamins daily.

When a child becomes sick, they often don’t eat good meals for a day or two. This is when children’s vitamins are the most beneficial to them, to pick up the slack. Doctors and nutritionists can work with parents of young children to help them work out a good diet of balanced meals as well as deciding when they may or may not need supplements. Vegetables are a huge source of many important vitamins, but we all know how most children don’t like vegetables.

Children’s vitamins are usually packaged with their favorite cartoon characters. This often makes them inviting to the child so they are interested in taking the vitamins. Some of the first children’s vitamins years ago were the infamous, “Flintstone Vitamins”.

These children’s vitamins are made in such as way that they would be hard to overdose with. They may look like cartoon characters that are funny, but they are made by medical professionals who know the importance of vitamins and how to make them. They know that children are going to enjoy taking these whimsical vitamins so they’re made so they are virtually impossible for a child to take an overdose.

If you are a new mom and trying to find a good children’s vitamin for your child, you’re in for a big surprise. You’ll be shocked at how many different types and brands of children’s vitamins there are on the market. It’s important to realize that these are not all the same. Before you start your child on a vitamin, consult with their physician or pediatrician on what your child’s needs are.

Many young children are affected by iron deficiency, in which case, your doctor will tell you which vitamins will best serve that need. The main reason why children become iron deficiency is that they are fussy eaters. If your child is particular about what they eat, make sure your children eat foods they like that are rich in iron.

Children’s vitamins you see on the market will not always have the ingredients each child needs for their individual growth. Multiple vitamins are usually a good choice for parents, but may not always have the correct amount of vitamins they need, if they have special needs. The best way to give your child what they need is to look for children’s vitamins that taste good. This makes it easier for everyone.

How Much Does Liposuction Cost?

By Linda A. Lithony | August 14, 2008

by Linda A. Lithony

Cosmetic surgery can be very expensive. The liposuction costs can easily add up to several thousand Dollars although the surgery just takes an hour or two to be completed. Cosmetic surgery is not paid by your normal health insurance so if you look for financing solutions you may contact one of these private companies that are specialized in funding cosmetic surgeries.

So how much is the liposuction cost really? Before you consider financing you should make some research. The prices for a liposuction depend on many different factors. If your plan is an extensive fat removal then you must calculate with about $10,000.

It also depends on the area itself. So are the back, buttocks and the arms cheaper areas for example, while liposuction on the abdomen or breasts are significantly more expensive.

Another factor is your health condition. How old are you, are there any other risk factors that could complicate the surgery? Did you have a liposuction before already? Do you have any skin problems etc.

The next factor which has big influence on the liposuction costs is the cosmetic surgeon himself. The more experience he has the more expensive he is. You also pay for the location. A New York liposuction will cost you more than a liposuction in a less expensive area simply because the costs for the surgeon are lower.

State of the art equipment is also expensive and will increase the costs for your surgery. Every modern technique which usually needs the latest technical devices, will have much higher costs.

What is the price for looking better, younger or healthier? Many would pay any price but you can save money on a liposuction when you know all these factors and are willing to spend a little time in research. The best way to save some money is to get the surgery in a less expensive city. There you can still get a top surgeon but pay less.

Use a Printable Weight Loss Journal to Achieve Success!

By Gail M. Davis | August 14, 2008

by Gail M. Davis

Keeping a printable weight loss journal while trying to diet is the single most important strategy that guarantees success. Many people simply can’t be bothered to track their food intake. Let’s face it, it can be labor intensive until you get used to it.

If you’ve never tracked your food before, there are easy ways to get started. You may want to purchase an attractive journal from your local bookstore or you may just want to use a spiral notebook. There are also websites that offer printable weight loss journal pages for free.

As you begin to record your food intake, make sure that you don’t skip what may seem like tiny tastes or bites. If you’re going to keep a journal, you’ll want it to be accurate. Include your daily activity as well. The act of journaling is very motivating and helps keep you on the right path to your weight loss goals.

Use your journal to record your thoughts and feelings as you go through this process. This will enable you to spot patterns about your eating habits that you may not have been aware of before. It will also allow you to make quick changes in time to meet with success on the scale.

You may want to take your weight loss journal with you as you go to work and carry on with your day, so that you can complete it while your memory is fresh. Many people just leave them at home and complete them when they eat dinner. Whichever way works best for you, the main thing is to be factual.

Some people choose to plan out their eating for the day, and record it ahead of time. Others prefer to be more spontaneous with their food and record it later in the day after the meals are eaten. Either way can be very effective. Accuracy is always the key to success.

The advantages of keeping a weight loss journal are obvious. How else can you look back at your progress and determine the strengths and weaknesses of your diet? This is the perfect way to make sure that you’re eating from all the food groups in the recommended portions.

Another reason to keep a journal is to keep track of your exercise goals. If your weight loss pleases you one week and not another, check to see if exercise played a key role. If you reach a plateau you can go back and reproduce a series of successful weeks.

Keeping a weight loss journal practically guarantees that you will be successful in your quest to slim down. Make a commitment to this strategy and see how it works for you. You wont be sorry.
