Acupuncture and weight loss are certainly becoming a controversial combination. Americans spend over 33 billion dollars every year on weight-related products and programs, and the failure rate is off the charts! Who can blame dieters for wanting healthy alternatives? Traditional methods certainly aren’t working. Acupuncture is becoming more popular since it offers no harmful side effects and no chance of addiction.
A 2002 National Health Review Survey stated that 8.2 million Americans reported using acupuncture treatments. Those statistics have surely grown significantly in the past six years. Acupuncture as a medical procedure began over 2,000 years ago. China is generally considered the authority in the field, although Korea and Japan use it quite extensively as well. Acupuncture uses long, thin, stainless steel needles, which are inserted into over 2,000 pressure points in the body.
Acupuncture is known to increase metabolism, reduce stress, increase energy, reduce muscular pain, and improve circulation. That solves the mystery as to why acupuncture and weight loss are combined!
One really exciting point is that Chinese researchers report that those who use acupuncture and weight loss are twice as successful as those who diet alone. In addition to all the other wonderful health benefits, acupuncture is also known to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
One negative aspect of acupuncture and weight loss is ear stapling. This procedure was developed in the United States and is considered ineffective and possibly dangerous. Two pressure points in the ear are targeted with ear stapling. The staples are left in the ear and sometimes dislodge or become infected. A certified acupuncturist would be a necessity when trying something this risky.
Most acupuncture patients feel little or no discomfort. Some describe a warming sense or a calming effect, or even an energized feeling. The treated pressure points and the individuals involved would dictate the sensations.
If you’re ready to give acupuncture a try, follow these easy guidelines to ensure success. Check with your family doctor first and find a reputable, certified acupuncturist. Select highly nutritious foods for your diet and decrease your caloric intake. Increase your caloric expenditure by adding cardio exercise to your routine. Be patient, but stay focused and positive!

Eat These Foods to Burn Belly Fat Fast
By Roland du Preez | August 13, 2008
Can you sit down and have a meal and find that the pounds melt away automatically? Has the world discovered some new food?
When you pause for a moment and consider that, millions of individuals are on weight loss diets, trying to lose those extra inches around the waist; finding a food source that burns fat is not something to dismiss, without further investigation.
Unfortunately I cannot tell you that a sweet day holiday has been implemented and that al the sweet tooth foods now burn fat.
Nutritious foods are the real fat burning foods, not junk food.
By the way, this is no trick or scam. The real fat burning foods are all of the foods that your body has to work at, to naturally digest. This is the natural way your body was made. These are foods that will cause your body’s metabolic rate to increase, to work at eliminating calories. When your body has to work at it, then it is an internal exercise, which causes more calories to burn. Your body is actually designed to work this way.
The junk foods, the processed foods are not something that your metabolism has to work at digesting because; most processed foods are not any real work to digest.
Because processed foods are already broken down your body has no real exercise to digest the food, it is literally a piece of cake for your body to process a piece of cake because it can break it down quickly. The empty calories are sent directly to your fat cells and your body becomes sluggish and lazy, resulting in a slow metabolic rate.
If you look at canned goods like fruit and vegetables you will see what has been added to each can.
You will be amazed at the amount of salt, chemicals and sweeteners added to canned foods.
Your body will burn calories faster, and work longer and harder when you’ve eaten a balanced meal. Including lean meat, whole grains and fruit and vegetables will help you lose weight. Portion sizes are very important.
You have to learn to set limits for yourself, you cannot eat till you’re full because then you will not lose inches.
Try it, eat less at your meals, don’t give into the feeling that you’re still hungry, in time your appetite will shrink to a comfortable, healthy size.
The rule of thumb is: if you don’t feel satisfied after you’ve eaten, wait for 20 minutes after your meal because your mind will then catch up to the fact that you have eaten. Most of the time the food craving disappears providing you have had a nutritious meal.
This is an overview of what will work to lose weight. Begin selecting fresher, whole foods that will burn the belly fat for you. When you include at least 25 minutes of aerobic type exercising a few times per week, this will increase your body’s metabolism tenfold, so you lose more weight much faster than before.

The Benefits of Rosemary Herb
By Charlie Reese | August 13, 2008
Growing the Rosemary Herb is Easier than You Think!
The rosemary herb has gotten a bad rap as a plant that is difficult to grow, but this is simply not the case. This herb can actually handle a lack of attention and care quite swimmingly if it is given the best start in life. The key to successfully growing the rosemary herb lies in its humble beginnings; if you get that part right, the rest of the growing season and a bountiful harvest are sure to follow.
The Attraction of Rosemary The rosemary herb is known as a triple threat for gardeners, because it is ornamental, fragrant and full of delightful flavor. In warmer climates, rosemary can be grown year round, but in colder areas, this herb needs to be brought indoors during the frosty months of winter or grown as an annual. It is much more challenging to keep the rosemary herb happy indoors during the winter months than it is outdoors during the summer, which is why many gardeners will choose to grow it as an annual.
As an ornamental plant, the rosemary herb is an evergreen shrub that can thrive in any type of soil and prefers full sunlight to partial shade. Larger rosemary shrubs can be shaped to a form that the gardener prefers, making it a wonderfully versatile and attractive addition to the landscape. As a culinary herb, rosemary can be used to season many of your favorite recipes, especially meat dishes. Rosemary herb that is grown over the summer can be harvested and dried to enjoy throughout the rest of the year.
Starting a Rosemary Herb Plant Getting a rosemary herb plant started is generally the most challenging part of growing this plant. Starting from seed is no easy task, but if you decide to give it a whirl, soak your seeds for a few hours before planting to increase your odds of success. Most gardeners will choose to start rosemary from a cutting, which will generally yield more positive results. However, you can also pick up a rosemary herb plant or two from your local nursery in the spring and plant them directly outdoors for best results.
Once it is successfully established, rosemary herb plants require very little care and watering to thrive. They tend to like a lot of sun and good drainage, and rarely require fertilizer. However, you can choose to feed your plants once in the spring with a fish/kelp emulsion for best growing results. The rosemary herb is a delightful, aromatic addition to any garden that can also be used to enhance your recipes all year long.

Why The Green Tea Weight Loss Plan Can Help You Drop Off The Fat
By Ann Huz | August 13, 2008
Weight loss plans involving natural green tea are rather popular due to their cheapness and simplicity to implement. Green tea can be consumed similar to other kinds of tea, but some people may not be used to its taste. But extracts of green tea can be used to overcome the taste.
Research on green tea has established that it assists in the reduction of weight through the stimulation of the body’s thermogenesis process. Thermogenesis works by increasing energy expenditure and oxidizes fat in your body. Other diet pills such as ephidrine also work in stimulating thermogenesis. But green tea is safer than those pills because it doesn’t cause any increases of the heart rate like they do.
Many overweight people can develop hypertension and cardiovascular problems. So green tea makes a better choice for them as it does not put additional pressure on their heart. Ephidrine is not recommended for those people while green tea is a safer option. With green tea, you can increase your exercise levels without aggravating any heart problems you may have.
There are really just two methods of losing weight: consume fewer calories by eating less or expend a lot of calories by exercising more. Green tea helps you in losing even more weight by stepping-up calorie expenditure by up to 4%. The researchers feel this is due to the catechin found in the tea.
In addition, several antioxidants are contained in green tea that enhances your health and wellness, as well as protects and strengthens your overall immune system.
Green tea does contain caffeine so it’s advised that you cut back or quit drinking coffee and other caffeinated beverages. Decaffeinated green tea is available but the beneficial chemical components of the plant may be destroyed during the decaffeination procedure. Therefore, it’s not highly recommended.
The addition of green tea to your weight loss plan may aid you to lose even more weight as well as increase your energy. You also might have even better results through the reduction of calories and the increase in exercises.
Green tea is a weight control aid that can be incorporated into your weight loss program easily and inexpensively. Natural and safe, you may want to consider adding green tea to your weight loss program.
